"But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?"
Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
- Matthew 16:15-16
A movie called “The Shack” came out this last weekend. It’s based on a powerful best-selling book that came out 10 years ago. The movie is equally impactful. I highly recommend it. But be warned this is not an easy story to take in – it is as disturbing as it is powerful. The story gives voice to God’s presence (as Father, Son and Holy Spirit) in the midst of life’s confusing pain – and the pain presented in this story is as deep and complex as one can imagine.
It is refreshing how God is presented in all three persons of the Trinity. I am especially drawn to Jesus’ character as he comes along side the hurting man as his friend and brother. One of our friends called him the best movie Jesus ever! And I don’t disagree because of the picture of friendship the book/movie presents. As we make our way toward Easter Sunday we will focus on this wonderful connection Jesus wants to have with each of us.
