“Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”
-Zechariah 9:9 (John 12:15)
I can recall a moment I have seen in several different movies where an important person’s identity was hidden and then revealed to the astonishment of the people around. Like a king or queen, prince or princess is dressed like a commoner and then they take off their hood and everyone realizes who they are and drops to bow in reverence (it happens in Aladdin!) In our recent messages we have considered Jesus as our brother, but what happens when we realize he is King?
This Sunday is Palm Sunday and it is the annual remembrance of Jesus’ Triumphal Entry. There was an unveiling that happened in this historical moment for that crowd and there can also be one for those who encounter this story today.
