“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace”
- Isaiah 9:6
This Old Testament prophecy about Jesus calls him the “Everlasting Father” and yet as far as we know he had no children. Because we think of Jesus as the Son, it is a little confusing to think of him as Father too. However, many of us are both sons and fathers – this is certainly a wonderful reality in my life. The recognition of Jesus as “Everlasting Father” is the consideration of his endless loving guidance and authority. This Sunday at Morello Hills as we continue the Advent season of Christmas we will look at how this title of Jesus Christ helps us fully understand and practice love. And at the end of the service we will decorate our tree!
