"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery"
Though I am still involved as a lay pastor at Morello Hills Christian Church, a little over a month ago I resigned my paid position at the church to take a job working full time at the Contra Costa County Homeless Shelter in Concord, working as a Core Specialist reaching out to the homeless in the cities of Pleasant Hill and Martinez. This has been a drastic change in my life, and one that has come about because of my own self-controlled discipline in following what I believe Jesus calls for me to do and be in life. It has also created a need for increasing discipline in working with homeless, at risk, and addicted people in ways that are healthy for both them and myself. And here's the strange thing - as I've stepped out in disciplined faith once again in my life, I have felt an overwhelming sense of being set free!
Come join the conversation this Sunday as we talk about how discipline in faith and life actually lead to incredible freedoms in life not available any other way! Joining me for this message are some friends who are heading to Zambia, Africa, to tell us how their missionary decisions are providing opportunities for adventurous freedoms in their lives as well!!
