“But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort.”
- 1 Corinthians 14:3
I recently read in a Christian book about a man who was on an airplane sitting next to someone and he felt like God told him some very specific things about this person beside him. He proceeded to tell the stranger what God had told him. The man telling the story said the other man was very shocked because everything he said was true. Stories like these are very hard for me to hear. I want to believe them, but I must say I’m always left wondering if they are true. Does God really give this kind of special knowledge to people?
Are there limits to what God will tell us? Are there limits to how He speaks to women and men? In the church we use the word “prophecy” to describe messages that God reveals to certain people to then pass on to others. How does God manage such an important process?
