“Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.”
- 1 Corinthians 14:1
I have learned to begin my prayers with thanking God for his love for me and/or us. Although I continue to wish I understood and practiced love better and more completely, I also understand that I have a perfect example found in my relationship with God. You might have noticed that many weddings find at least some of the words from the Bible’s book of I Corinthians chapter 13 in their ceremony. “Love is patient, love is kind …” or “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal” are important sections from this chapter in the Bible.
So on this Sunday, two days before our nation celebrates Valentine’s Day and celebrates Love, how can we be encouraged by God’s love for us? God so loves us that he gave his son for our forgiveness. He is patient, He is kind; and His way of love speaks deep into the heart of women and men.
